Last Saturday, March 17, 2007, another CS:Source LAN event was held in Moscow, Russia. This event was unique for Russian CS:Source community in a number of aspects. It was first sponsored CS:Source event supported by major local telecom company "Corbina Telecom". Sponsor was pretty much impressed by enthusiasm of CS:Source community shown during this event and confirmed the intent to support further events. Another innovative aspect was online Windows Media broadcast of most interesting games along with comments of the event host. Finally the prize money were largest to the date for Russian community equivalent of 1500 USD with 1000 USD for the first place and 300 USD and 200 USD for second and third places respectively.

All top Russian CS:Source teams attended the event, including MGC, USSR, HDS and Team Empire, with 32 teams in total. Teams were split into 8 groups and all favourites managed to get into finals without much effort MGC and HDS each made three wins in group stage while USSR and Team Empire lost one game each and got into finals from second place in their groups (group stage results http://otstrel.ru/vbb/showpost.php?p=392403&postcount=1 ).

Single Elimination scheme was chosen for 16 teams which got into finals so the price of mistake was quite high. USSR and MGC made no mistakes and met in the LAN final while Team Empire was knocked out by MGC (16-7) and HDS was knocked out by little known team break... (16-4) in quarterfinals.

Team break won third place from meat4game after really hard series of overtimes (22-18). USSR won first place from MGC in final (16-11). Unfortunately because of illness MGC was missing one key player - !ceberg, who was replaced right before the event with a skilled mercenary but the loss was still too heavy to stand against USSR (finals results http://otstrel.ru/vbb/showpost.php?p=392438&postcount=2 ).

Our congratulations go to USSR for the first place, to MGC for the second place and to break for the third place!
